Guidelines for Documents Submitted for Peer Review

As a journal of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, ON-Math serves as a resource for all those involved in school mathematics. ON-Math presents a broad range of ideas for teaching and learning mathematics at any level, from early childhood to young adult. The journal will capitalize on the unique opportunities afforded by electronic media.

The Editorial Panel is interested in publishing articles that:

  • Enhance the understanding of mathematics

  • Reflect a vision of teaching and learning mathematics appropriate for the 21st century

  • Capitalize on the opportunities afforded by electronic media

  • Are useful to grades pre-K-14 teachers and teacher educators in their classrooms

  • Address a range of issues associated with equity and diversity in mathematics education that are compatible with NCTM's "mathematics for all" statement

All submissions will undergo a peer review process established by the journal's Editorial Panel. Referees' comments and suggestions will be communicated to the author, as well as the Panel's decision to publish, revise, or reject the submitted document. The Panel will also assist authors who have promising documents in securing the technical assistance that might be needed to electronically enhance the document.

If you have general questions for the Editorial Panel, please e-mail onmath@nctm.org.
