Reflective Tasks and Analyses

Lesson Analysis 1: Identify three questions that were asked during the lesson and propose and justify an alternative way that the question could have been asked.

Reflective Task 1: Describe one or two missed opportunities—that is, situations where no question was asked—and propose and justify a question that could have been asked to further the development of mathematical understanding.

Reflective Task 2: Describe how the teacher’s questioning, and the manner in which student responses are handled, contribute or do not contribute to a positive classroom learning environment?

Personal Reflection 1: What kinds of questions predominate in your classroom? Single answer? Short answer? Explanation?

Personal Reflection 2: What techniques do you use to monitor the questions you ask and reflect on ways your questions can be more effective?
