Referee or Review for NCTM

NCTM Journals depend on the volunteer efforts of our members. If you are a current Council member or teach at an elementary school that is an institutional member, you can help by refereeing manuscripts or reviewing commercial instructional materials.

IMPORTANT: If you are currently in our database of active referees or reviewers, we need you to electronically update your information in our new system. Please select your journal from the links below:

NCTM also encourages members who are not active referees or reviewers to sign up and support the Council in this way.

A referee writes reviews for manuscripts submitted for publication. After receiving a manuscript, referees have approximately four weeks to return an electronic evaluation. All evaluations must be received electronically. Once the manuscript has been evaluated by several referees, a member of the journal's Editorial Panel makes a decision regarding publication. In some cases, the Editorial Panel member might ask for revisions, in which case the referees might see the manuscript again.

A reviewer writes reviews of software, books, or products. These products are sent from the Reston office, and reviewers have about two months to complete their evaluations.

Your efforts will not only help our journals but also contribute to your professional development.

To become a referee or reviewer for NCTM, select the journal(s) you wish to write for from the options below and click on "New Users" to begin your registration.
