Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions relating to conference registration, attendance, and presentations.

Q:

How do I become a speaker at an NCTM conference?
A:

To become a speaker at a conference, you must submit a proposal to NCTM's Conference Services Department. A program committee of mathematics educators reviews proposals and notifies selected applicants.

See the online guidelines and forms for speakers. You can also fax your form to (703) 295-0956 or mail it to NCTM Conference Services Department, 1906 Association Drive, Reston, VA 20191-9988.

Q:

How do I get credit for attending NCTM conferences?
A:

NCTM provides certificates of attendance to annual meeting attendees. These certificates may be obtained by attendees at the conference.

Q:

I am not a member, but my school is. Can I register as a member under my school's membership?
A:

Only teachers in schools that have a K-8 School Membership are eligible for reduced registration fees at NCTM regional conferences and the annual meeting.

Q:

I registered for a conference. When will I receive confirmation materials?
A:

NCTM mails confirmation materials as soon as the program book for a conference becomes available.

Q:

What professional development opportunities are offered by NCTM apart from conferences?
A:

NCTM offers professional development events, resources, and services in addition to conferences. For information about upcoming events or available resources and services, visit the Professional Development section of the NCTM web site.

Q:

Why are Workshops limited to 100 people? Why is there no waiting list?
A:

We limit the number of participants so that each person will have an opportunity to interact with presenters and peers.

Because of the popularity of the Workshops, cancellations are extremely rare, so there are no waiting lists. Since workshop materials are provided for each participant, a firm count of attendees is needed for planning purposes before the start of each Workshop.
