Emily is currently teaching a 4th/5th grade, split general education, class in a South Side, Chicago Public School. This is her 6th year teaching in CPS. During the first two years of her teaching career, she taught 4th grade literacy, and for the past four years, she has been a general education teacher in 3rd -5th grades. Teaching in upper elementary has awakened her passion for helping young scholars undo/unlearn foundational misconceptions about math, in order to become exceptional mathematicians and critical thinkers. In an effort to become a more effective math teacher and achieve the goal of helping young scholars develop into strong mathematicians, Emily is currently participating in an intermediate math specialist pilot program through DePaul University.
